A sauna Setiabudi is built on the road you live on

Our workshop is at Jl. Setiabudi No. 200 — not a showroom, but where timber gets cut and sauna walls get assembled. That has two consequences for anyone in the Ledeng–Sukajadi corridor. Lead time is the shortest of any district we serve, 3–6 weeks typical, with no inter-city freight. And service calls are trivial: if a bench slat needs replacing in year five, we are up the road, not across the province. There is also the thing almost nobody asks for and everybody could — come and watch your sauna being built.

PLN capacity, not floor space, is what usually stops a project

Setiabudi is established, dense housing, and older houses come with older electrical panels. A 6–9 kW dry sauna heater needs a dedicated three-phase line or a heavy single-phase run — a supply upgrade, not a plug. So on a survey here we photograph the meter box and the breakers before the garden. Where the supply cannot economically go up, the honest answer is usually an infrared sauna: 1.8–3 kW, 45–60°C, off the 220V already in the wall. An ice bath chiller at 0.5–1 HP also runs on standard 220V, so the cold side is rarely the problem.

Retrofitting a finished house is the normal job here

In a district built out over decades, almost nobody calls while the house is still a frame. The floors are down and nobody wants them lifted. So the rule is blunt: no breaking floors if we can help it. Cables follow existing runs, the ice bath drain routes to the nearest outlet, and wall panels are prefabbed in modules that pass through the doors and stairs of an older house rather than a hole in a wall. Ventilation and the vapour barrier stay non-negotiable — Bandung air is humid, and vapour parked in a wall cavity bills you later.

Around 800 m: nights of 18–20°C do part of the cool-down for free

Setiabudi sits at roughly 800 m, with nights around 18–20°C. Not cold enough to replace a chiller — an ice bath still targets 2–8°C and tap water will not get there — but cold enough that a terrace rest zone works without air conditioning most of the year. The protocol we recommend is 10–15 minutes hot, 1–3 minutes cold, 5–10 minutes rest, repeated 2–3 rounds. Many users report the rest phase is the part they actually feel, and here it is free. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, uncontrolled blood pressure or epilepsy, talk to a doctor before starting cold exposure.

Neighbours: Dago above, Cimahi to the west

Two very different problems sit on either side. Uphill, Dago means steep plots and narrow lanes, where carrying a cabin in becomes its own line item. West, Cimahi means tighter plots and shared walls. Here the access road is usually fine; the limit is the meter, not the street.
