Sauna and ice bath guides from Bandung builders
Written by the people who actually build these things. Real numbers, real trade-offs, and an honest note where the evidence is still thin.
Sauna and ice bath guides for Bandung homes
Start with cost and power: home sauna cost and sauna power requirements. For cold water: ice baths for athletes and water maintenance. Ready to build? See our sauna and ice bath products in Bandung.
Try it with a tub and bagged ice before you think about Rp 38 million
Almost everyone still using an ice bath a year later did it the cheap, uncomfortable way first.
Which parts of a sauna forgive you, and which parts punish you
We have pulled apart DIY saunas with tidier joinery than our own workshop produces. The wall behind them was black.
Sauna safety: safe for most people, genuinely risky for a few
The most dangerous thing in a sauna is not the 90°C. The article every company selling these should write, and almost none do.
Sauna power requirements: check the supply before you choose, not after
The quote was signed and the cedar chosen. Then our surveyor looked at the meter, and the project stopped for five weeks.
A villa wellness area lives or dies on circulation, not equipment
The best sauna money can buy, placed on the wrong path, ends up as a towel cupboard.
Ice bath for athletes: the temperature is not the hard part
Everyone asks how cold the water should be. Almost nobody asks what time to get in, and that is the answer.
Ice bath water maintenance: cold slows bacteria, it doesn't sterilise
An ice bath is 400 litres of water that people sweat into straight after 15 minutes at 90°C. Cold doesn't solve that problem — it conceals it.
A commercial sauna for hotels is a different machine from a home one
The same 8 kW heater runs 150 hours a year in a home and 5,800 in a hotel. Every spec difference falls out of that one number.
Stop sizing your sauna by floor area
Two saunas, identical floor plan, identical heater. One works. The difference is 55 cm of ceiling.
Sauna wood is chosen with physics, not with taste
A 90°C bench doesn't burn you. A 90°C screw head does. That gap is the whole argument about wood.
What sits inside a Rp 68 million sauna, line by line
Budgets rarely blow up over the timber. They blow up over one line that appears in no brochure: your electrical panel.
Contrast therapy is one system, not two products
It isn't the heat, and it isn't the cold. It's the transition between them. Here is the protocol, number by number.
How to use a sauna: seven steps, and the etiquette nobody explains
The top bench runs 15-20°C hotter than the bottom one, and nobody tells first-timers.
There is no ideal ice bath temperature — there is a dose
Ice gives you 5°C at minute zero and 11°C at minute eight. That is not a protocol, it is a coincidence.
Infrared vs traditional sauna: one heats you, the other heats the room
Infrared isn't a cheap Finnish sauna. It's a different machine — and in a Bandung house, the electricity meter usually decides for you.
Dry sauna vs steam room: why 45°C wet is harder than 90°C dry
It was never about the temperature. The difference is whether your sweat still has anywhere to go — and the entire building follows from that.
Ice bath benefits: what's real, what's argued about, what's oversold
The first thirty seconds are a reflex you cannot negotiate with. The most reliable effect arrives twenty minutes after you get out.
Sauna health benefits, minute by minute inside a 90°C room
Fifteen minutes at 90°C changes your heart rate, your blood flow and how you sleep that night. The biggest effect arrives after you walk out.
