Sauna Dago: the view is the asset, the glass is a heat load
Dago Atas and Dago Pakar sit on the hillside at 800–1,000 m: steep plots, narrow access roads, and the view over the Bandung basin that made people buy the land in the first place. Two of those decide a sauna Dago more than anything else — how the panels get up there, and how much glass you want.
Sauna Dago: the glass that makes the view also makes the load
People build on this hillside for the view, which makes a full glass front the norm here rather than a luxury option. The catch is that glass loses heat far faster than a layered sauna wall. A cabin with one fully glazed side bleeds heat continuously through that plane, so a heater that would be ample for a closed timber cabin of the same size comes up short. We go one step up — at the same volume, from roughly 6 kW to 8 or 9 kW — so 80–95°C holds steady instead of dropping every time the door opens.
The climb and the narrow road: quoted openly, not buried
Cabins are fabricated at our workshop and brought to site as panels. In Dago the last stretch is the expensive part: hillside access roads are often narrow, turn tightly, and a large vehicle simply cannot reach the front of the house. That means transferring panels to a smaller vehicle, or carrying them up steps and sloping ground by hand. That is man-hours, and we put it on the quote as its own line rather than folding it into the cabin price to keep the number tidy. We measure the route at the survey, before any figure is issued.
Steep plots: a level pad and somewhere for the water to go
An ice bath full of water has to sit on something genuinely level. On a Dago slope that means a concrete pad or a decked platform levelled first, not simply setting the tub on the terrace that is already there. The drain run has to follow the contour too: emptied water needs a proper destination, not just a release onto the ground below you. It is a small job if you think about it before the tub arrives, and a large one if you do not.
A full-height window over the basin at dusk
This is the best version of the product we build, and Dago is where it happens. Sitting at 90°C facing a wall-height window as the lights of the Bandung basin come on below is the reason people accept the heater step up. One condition from us: the window orientation gets fixed during the 3D layout, not after the frame is standing. Sightline, the neighbours' roof line and the heater position all lock into each other.
800–1,000 m: between Lembang and the city
Nights here run about 18–20°C. Cool enough for an outdoor rest phase almost all year, but not as cold as Lembang at 1,300 m — and the incoming water is not as cold either, so the ice bath chiller works a little longer than it would up there. Against Setiabudi, lower again, the difference is slim. What separates this district from both is not the temperature. It is the climb and the glass.

Why does a panoramic-glass sauna need a bigger heater?
Because glass sheds heat much faster than a layered sauna wall, and in Dago a full glass front is almost always part of the design. At the same cabin volume we move the heater one step up so 80–95°C stays steady. Cabin size and glazed area are calculated together, never separately.
Our access road in Dago is narrow and steep. Can you still install?
Almost always. The cabin goes up as panels rather than one finished box, so what matters is not the width of a truck but the width of the final stretch and how many people it takes to carry them. We measure that route at the free survey, then quote the carry as its own line so it is clear which part is the cabin and which part is the hill.
What power does an 8–9 kW heater need?
A dedicated line: three-phase, or a heavy single phase genuinely separate from the rest of the house. Because panoramic glass usually pushes the heater to the top of that range, houses in Dago need a panel upgrade more often than a closed timber cabin of the same size would. We check your installed PLN capacity at the survey, before specifying the heater.
Does an ice bath in Dago need a different chiller from Lembang?
Same size, 0.5–1 HP on 220V. The only difference is how often it runs: the incoming water here is not as cold as in Lembang, so the compressor chases a slightly bigger gap. That shows up on the monthly bill, not in the specification — 2–8°C is still 2–8°C for your body. Talk to a doctor first if you are pregnant, have a heart condition, uncontrolled blood pressure or epilepsy, before starting cold exposure.
